I've been slacking from posts...

Not because I forgot but I've been busy and using facebook more then I really should (hehehe).

I got to visit with my new friend and cousin (on my hubby's side), Erika. She is so great and sweet and I love her family. :) It was nice spending time with them and I hope to do so more in the future.

Also, I have been doing minor home repair stuff...painting the bathroom, adding shelves, thinking about making pillow covers/curtains, and so on. I also am starting to do more artwork and experimenting with stuff that has been on my mind a lot...basically, working with some metal and making simply type outside art (just for me, kind of stuff). I may do more...but it is hard on the hands and working with metal can be dangerous. So, we shall see how it goes.

I'm planning to send out my graphic novel, again. I have about 5 agents I'm interested in...and I want to get back into this. I'm starting to feel very selfish with my time, lately.

I did finish, last night, about 5 more stuffed animals; guinea pigs. I want to do a few softy soft kitties. I sold some soft sculpture kitties and they had painted faces...there was a bit of confusion as the person who bought them didn't know they were intirely painted. So, I'll be more detailed in my descripting. Thankfully, they liked them! I'm working on handpainted monster/critter types too...I hope they come out nicely.

All of this and tending to the kids and the baby...they are all doing well. One tooth has emerged from the baby and one was lost by Norrie. Seems to be all about teeth. I think it's lunch time as I'm getting grumpy/impatient and feel like I need to having something to eat. Love to you all and have a good weekend!

Not too rainy today...

Boy, did it rain yesterday. No, thunder but lots oh rain. I was feeling sort of blah because I lost my glasses and just sort of muddling through the day (while searching franctically for the specs as well as trying to clean up this house for guests coming soon).

Today was another story...I just gave up on the glasses and started moving furniture around and low and behold, there they were; my glasses! What a relief! So, I am calm again and don't see in double vision anymore.

We went for a walk and I was planning to go longer, however the drizzly of rain felt like it was starting to come down harder so we took the short version home. As it turned out, it wasn't so rainy after all. Still, it was nice to get out and move for once. I notice if I'm stuck in the house, it really helps to do the mini-trampoline. I just feel more alive afterwards and not so stir crazy. I also found out I can stick the thing in front of the computer and put some tunes on youtube and workout like that. It's really nice! :)

Yesterday was Jon's Birthday! :) He felt a little down but we made him a banana bread cake, the gals gave him a card with sunflower seeds and Lydia played her first piano piece. She was so happy to do this...and it felt so dear that she wanted to do this.

Harry's taking a nap and the kids are playing peacefully upstairs. I hope more cleaning to do but we shall see. Maybe I'll do some art...haven't dont much in a few days and would like to spend several hours doing this, but I'll take a 15 minutes to half an hour.

With all this rain, I know the garden has loosened up a lot of weeds...temptation abounds. Plus, it would get some heavy footed kids outside. ehem...:P

because there is a lot of Thai food I plan to try and make! Oh, my...just found this recipe for Tom Ka Kai soup. It sounds really, really good! I'm not sure where to find lemon grass, but I'll try my best to adapt.

I can't believe how many things are happening. My brother is getting married in November and we plan on going. It's going to be in Indiana...so, we can defintely drive out.

This week was supposed to have more sun...but today is gloomy and overcast. Tomorrow, thunder storms! Hopefully, this is not just going to blow over. I do like thunder storms but not too close. There was a really big one last year, and it struck the transformer down the street! We saw it happen and lost power for over 12 hours. So, hopefully, nothing that serious.

We drove up to a lodge near Shavers creek, yesterday for Jon's boss's retirement party. The weather was gorgeous! The food was really good and we liked the caterer's name, Harrison's! :) I want to go back there again...or at least Shaver's creek. We love that place.

Pics will be forth coming. Oh, I finished one of my canvas paintings...I handbuilt a canvas in a house shape and painted my pet friends on it. It came out really sweet. It makes me happy, even more so, since we lost Autumn. I think I may do one just for her...

Have an art class today. We'll see how it goes; hopefully, it won't be too warm in there like it was last time! Geez! It needs air conditioning (and I couldn't find any fans, anywhere). Wish me luck!

Good-bye, Autumn

Bridge Called Love
It takes us back to brighter years,
to happier sunlit days
and to precious moments
that will be with us always.

And these fond recollections
are treasured in the heart
to bring us always close to those
from whom we had to part.

There is a bridge of memories
from earth to Heaven above...
It keeps our dear ones near us
It's the bridge that we call love.

ear aches

We've been having a round of storms and it's driving my sinus/ears crazy. I'm still getting over some of the pain, but I actually was able to move around more without feeling dizzy as heck. I made it outside and did a bit of gardening...thank goodness for Motrin. Sigh...

The good thing is the soil has loosened up and I can pull grass out pretty easily. I also found the biggest earthworm ever! That thing was a huge beauty. Wow! Nightcrawler, I guess they are called.

Anyway, we've been doing more gardening and cleaning...in-between me being sick, we're getting things done.

On another note, the baby is doing better after throwing up for several days. I didn't know what it was because it was only when he was eating. I suppose it's new food source and he was getting used to it...still, it worried me quite a bit.

Otherwise, I'll be trying out teaching a few art classes. I look forward to this.

I'm working on several art projects. They are still in the infancy stage and once I get them primed and painted, I'll feel I'm getting somewhere. It's funny how you want everything to be just right but you never know how something will turn out, art-wise. It's exciting, really. I must be feeling better if I'm thinking of creating art work. It seems I went through a bit of a dry spell; feeling a bit lost. Now, it's coming back. I honestly feel it was because we went to Pittsburgh and did something fresh/new.

It's the sun

I admit I am loving this warm weather. It's a bit of a crazy feeling to get this much sun lately...feels almost like when I was growing up, actually. Certainly, the days weren't this humid but it sure feels good to have the warm on us here in PA. I do think I over did it as I ended up taking a two hour nap when Jon got home. I think it was the constant pressure of storms in the distance (we're supposed to have thunder sometime in the next day). This drives my inner ear crazy and I got a headache/dizzy feeling around 5pm. So, I was out.

Meanwhile, everyone watched movies, played in the yard and had a great time. I'm so glad. I even enjoyed, before collapsing, playing ball with the kids. I don't think I was that active in a while, and with the heat/ear thing, it zapped me.

I was planning to take a tour of a school for some open house, but got lost on the way. It was frustrating. Jon said it wouldn't be likely we'd send the kids there...cost and such. But it would have been nice to at least find the place. Darn.

Though I haven't been posting, I have been doing a bit art. This keeps me sane, actually. I truly feel if more people did some sort of art/craft, a lot of people wouldn't be so stressed out. At least art works that way with me. I have to say, every time I do some activity/project, I always feel better. Plus, I've learned to not panic about the time issue. I sometimes start to feel as though I want to get everything done at once but have since learned just to take things in stages/parts and it all comes together. It's almost like a Zen stage of letting go and allowing your self to be in the moment. It's very liberating and I can see how it would frustrate people (my self included) on schedules. But, it's what works for me.

Anyway, we've been doing a lot of yard play/conquering. Basically, the swingset was what pushed us outside and gave us an anchor. It's funny how something like that can make the yard a yard. But it does. I want to expand the fence and use more of the lower yard. It's just so full of chipmunk holes. We'd have to get some fill for that. We shall see.

The gals planted beans and we got some tomato plants. I hope they will all grow and flourish. I'm excited about them as last year we didn't have any time to do anything and I want to make up for this a bit.

Otherwise, we're doing all right. We took a mini-trip to Pittsburgh and had a very good time. We went to the Children's Museum there and my gosh, what a great experience! We all loved it! It made the museum I'm apart of in Altoona, seem a bit small...okay, it's not the same thing and I shouldn't even compare. The Pittsburgh museum is massive and is probably on an acre of land. It's so amazing and fun. I loved the interactive displays, the attention to detail, the appreciation of artists (nearly everything was designed by an artist) and just the feel of movement and wonder. The kids had a great time and I could tell every parent was having a great time too.

Afterwards, we went to Trader Joe's and I had to reacquaint myself with that place. The kids were overwhelmed by the number of languages they were hearing, oddly enough. Jon picked out at least 4 different countries just by listening to conversations. It was fun and reminded me so much of Southern California...though, honestly, you'd hear a lot more variety of conversations! Still, it was cool to go there. I did feel a bit overwhelmed and would have liked to spend more time but the place was packed! This was a bit of a surprise...I guess it was because it was Saturday or something. The other cute thing is people where hanging around and talking. This is such a regional thing...in the Western part of the country, you don't really do that. You sort of get your shopping done and maybe wave at someone or say hi. Over here, people stand around and chat and chat and walk around and chat some more. It shocks me every time and can be good/bad depending on whether you have the time. I need to get the hang of that...I don't know if I ever will but it is interesting to watch.

Well, we finally made it back after all this and it ended up being something like a 5.5 hour drive all in all. I want to go again! I want to move to Pittsburgh! lol! Well, maybe we'll just visit once a month and get a good supply of Trader Joe's goodies and visit the museum(s) over there. I really felt refreshed after all of that.
