Kanye West and the Truth

Good link to read about the situation in New Orleans. I hope to God all these people get lawyers and sue the govt. for the worst failed rescue attempt and needless delays I have ever seen.

Kanye West, I applaud you for saying the truth. I'm so angry that MSNBC cut your words out. Your words brought tears to my eyes...Please listen to the video (from the link above) to hear West DO THE RIGHT THING. There is too many lies and too much hidden. Time to cut this crap and help each other...

My thoughts are with you who went through this horror, all of you. I can not even begin to imagine what it was like, is like and how to begin a new life.

Dear Emily

I watched the video. It confirms what is puzzling us in Australia. How can the supposedly richest and strongest nation on earth leave it's own people in this state for so long?

Surely, supplies of food, water and clothing can be distributed? Surely there must be someplace they can go OUT of the Superdome? If emergency supplies can be sent to other countries suffering disaster, why can't they go to people at home?

Or is it because the majority of people are black?

We hear so much about the state of anarchy down there, whilst understandable to a degree, it also makes the situation worse. But when you see lines of buses going nowhere, and people sitting in the hot sun and the stinking Superdome, also going nowhere, you wonder how long will this hell-on-earth last?

These people have already been traumatised by H.Katrina but I think that will be easier to recover from than the treatment they have received by their fellow man (Government) since.

No doubt there are cases of wonderful generosity happening, but individual incidents cannot help the masses, and I can't believe that the US Government cannot solve this immediate problem in about two days if it really wanted to.

Thank you for writing me, Alice. It's interesting to get views of the US.

Honestly, I don't know why. I don't know why it took so long. I tried to answer some of your questions in my blog...One reason is because the people are poor and Black that is one reason the aid was SO slow. I kept thinking if reporters can get there why can't the US govt? Then I started thinking it was because most of the troops are in Iraq and spread about so thinly...even the National Guard...which was meant for the Nation not the world. Bush has just lied to the American people so much, that he's starting to come apart at the seams.

I read some stories where people were not even allowed to leave the dome...it was a prison.

About anarchy...I've read that if a person is dehydrated even a few hours it makes them mentally imbalanced (and this is while hiking). How much more so if you have gone through this insanity, with no communications and people telling you we're coming, we're coming and nobody comes for a week? It's wrong and yes people go crazy.

I absolutely agree with you that the worst of the trauma is the delayed human aid. Even now, bush has not offered any plan, any monetary aid, any thing to help. He lets various states (local govt) do the work but does NOTHING to help. What is this? This is our leader? You have no idea how furious it makes me. And now, now I hope that people realize why the people in Iraq and all across the world do not like this government of ours.

Absolutely. If Bush wanted to do the right thing, he would be able to give people grants to help them start off new lives. It can be done. There is no reason not to. The only opposition is greed and this insane every man for himself neocon attitude.

Thank you for writing, Alice. I truly appreciate your thoughts. I have to realize and I hope others do to, that these are ELECTED officials and they work for US.

We have the power and the ability to make things right. It warms my heart to hear opinions that ring with truth and insight.
